To enhance a sense of permanence, the design incorporates solid pillars, a manufactured stone base and a deeply recessed porch. A large loggia on the first floor provides protection from the sun, giving the house a Mediterranean feel. Dark charcoal-coloured roofing creates a strong contrast to the plastered exterior of the house. Jalcon Homes specified Gerard Corona Shake roofing in Charcoal, with matching fascias in Iron Sand. Kiwi Schist from Stutex stone features on the chimney of the showhome. This manufactured stone replicates the look and feel of natural schist. The schist also highlights the base of the house. Kiwi Schist transforms the pillars on the outdoor patio into a feature. Doors and windows were custom designed and manufactured by Summit Aluminium. The design was conceived to ensure a balance between good looks and everyday utility. Funtional aspects taken into account included natural lighting, ventilation, security, door egress and weathering. Subtle neutral shades punctuated with accents of bold colour add a sophisticated look to the interior of the showhome. This home also features the Origin 1 floor system, which eliminates squeaks and reduces vibrations on the first floor.
