 1. FEATURE GROUND-LEVEL WINDOW:
In order to house their collection of large artworks the clients required substantial wall spaces throughout the house. Such a space has been created in the entry hallway opposite the first flight of stairs. In order to bring light in to this space a customised window fitted with safety glass was installed at gound level. This ground-level window not only lets in light to this main thoroughfare, it also provides an interesting glimpse to the entertainment area outside.
 
2. SOUND-PROOF CHILDREN'S WING:
Daniel and Margaret's two children are very musical with one playing the drums and the other the electric guitar. With this in mind a sound-proof wing was created which includes a spacious media/loung/practice room and a light and airy family bathroom, flanked by two double bedrooms with walk-in wardrobe storage.
The sound-proofing was achieved by installing a large, solid entry door to the wing, sound-proof gib on the walls and sound-batts through the midfloor.
 
3. A GREY-USE WATER system directly feeding off the roof line provides a sustainable option for toilet flushing.
 
4. HEATING throughout the house is provided by a heat pump, with a luxury gas fire in the formal lounge.
